Team Up to Help Protect our New Jersey Coast – and We’ll Match Your Donation Dollar for Dollar!

As a company headquartered at the Jersey Shore and committed to environmental sustainability, we have a unique perspective on coastal resilience and our role in helping reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In addition to making our own operations more sustainable, we’re taking action to make a difference in the communities we serve – and encourage our customers to do the same.

Launched in 2021, our Coastal Climate Initiative (CCI) helps to advance projects that promote coastal resilience and enhance the nature-based functions these environments (like tidal saltwater marshes) provide. CCI directly supports The Nature Conservancy in New Jersey, an environmental nonprofit with over 60 years of experience working to protect water and lands in New Jersey, and their work to restore tidal saltwater marshes in the Barnegat Bay – part of NJNG's service territory.

How do saltwater wetlands help mitigate the effects of climate change?

Coastal marshes act as "carbon sinks," reducing emissions by actively removing carbon from the atmosphere and safely sequestering it away in the ground. These coastal environments also act as a natural barrier against climate impacts, reducing the effects of storm surges and helping protect people and property in New Jersey's coastal communities.

How can you help?

By supporting CCI, you can help address climate change. Making a donation through your NJNG bill will further the critical work of The Nature Conservancy in New Jersey. You can request a one-time or monthly recurring donation added to your bill through our online form. To maximize the impact of your contribution, NJNG will match your donation dollar for dollar, up to a total of $50,000. All donations go directly to The Nature Conservancy in New Jersey.
